Day Courses for Home Education groups during Covid-19

We are excited to now be able to offer day courses for Home Education groups.

Over the last few months, Home Education has been given little thought in government guidelines. This has often meant that there has been reduced opportunities for people that have elected to home educate. Thankfully, during Lockdown#2 it has been made clear that elective Home Education groups have been given the same exemption as schools.

We are currently running a range of day bookings for existing Home Education groups which can be run within the government’s Covid-19 guidelines. These courses will provide the children with amazing, fun, safe, secure and educational experiences in the outdoors.

We are offering the young people exactly what they have missed out on over the last few months. Fun, education, social bonding and a chance to be kids again.

Fully risk assessed courses in line with government guidelines

The outdoors is the perfect place for a Covid-safe educational course. We have adapted our activities and we are now able to run most of our activities in a COVID safe fashion whilst maintaining our normal safety standards with our experienced staff team.

Personalised approach to each group

Bowles understands that each group will have its own guidelines in place, we will work with you to ensure that we match your requirements and needs as well as adhering to our own risk assessments.

What activities are on offer?

For a full list of what we are able to offer, please visit our Day Course Activities page. Here are a few examples of what we have on offer:

How the day works

The day starts at 09.30 and finishes at 16.30 with an hour lunch break. This means there is three hours of activity in the morning and another three hours in the afternoon. You can chose to have a long activity in each of these sessions (such as skiing or rock climbing), or you can chose two shorter activities such as kayaking and Archery.

Minimum group size

There must be a minimum group size of 8, with a maximum of 15. If your numbers exceed 15 we will then work with two groups of 8.

Age ranges

Minimum age is 8 years old. Maximum age is 16. We recommend trying to keep the ages similar for the group as this makes activity choice easier.

Can adults stay to watch?

Yes, you are more than welcome to stay and watch but you don’t have to.

Our instructors will ask you to remain socially distant from themselves and please make sure you adhere to your own Home Education bubbles guidelines in terms of adults and children.

Equipment needed

Bowles will provide all safety equipment. You will need to ensure that people come with suitable warm clothing (winter courses) and coats. You will also need to provide lunch and snacks for the day. If anyone has any medication requirements, please make sure they disclose this on the consent forms and bring the medication with them. Advice for EpiPen users is to bring both pens with them.

Some extra equipment you may need to provide depending of what you have booked is:

  • long sleeves tops (coats and jumpers are perfect in the winter) and gloves;
  • swimming kit if doing any activities in the pool.

Do children need to be able to swim to book a kayaking/rafting session?

We provide buoyancy aids for these sessions so there is no need for people to be able to swim.

How to book

Please contact admin@bowles.rocks or phone 01892 665 665.

We will set up a booking link in which each person can book onto. You will be given a password so only people from your bubble can book onto this course.
