We are looking for a Seasonal Instructors for 2019, Freelance Outdoor Instructors for 2019 and Trainee Outdoor Instructors for our 2019 Bowles Outdoor Leader Training ‘BOLT’ programme as well as catering and housekeeping general assistants.

Seasonal Outdoor Education Instructor £16.5-£21k

Salary includes  meals when working and the role comes with ensuite accommodation for which a small charge is made. (Living out may be an option for the right candidate).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least two of the following qualifications;
    • SPA or Southern Sandstone Award
    • BCU/UKCC level 1 or 2
    • BASI or UK Snowsports level 1
    • Experience teaching a range of outdoor activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A professional approach
  • A passion for outdoor learning


  • ML or Lowland leader
  • Pool lifeguard
  • Ability to run outdoor sessions in:  Teambuilding; Orienteering; Rope courses; Archery; Snowboard; Mountain Biking
  • D1 minibus entitlement

Catering and House-Keeping General Assistant

General Assistants required for our busy catering and housekeeping department. £7.80 an hour.

Role 1: Term time role, immediate start, 8.15am to 2pm Monday to Friday, with optional additional hours available during busy periods.

Role 2: 20 hours per week, annualised contract including evenings and weekends with additional hours available during busy periods, hours allocated via a monthly rota.

Duties to include serving and assisting during meal service, vegetable preparation, laying tables, washing up, loading and unloading the dishwasher and cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms.

Bowles is looking for established outdoor professionals who are used to working with a range of clients from both corporate and educational settings. Qualifications (SPA, D1+E, APIOL) are valuable but more importantly we are looking for educators/facilitators with a friendly personality who are reliable, flexible and have a breadth of experience. Facilitation & reviewing skills within a professional development context would be advantageous.
