teacher training in outdoors

Teacher training

Over the years Bowles has worked closely with many local Universities and SCITTs. These have been individually designed to meet the learning objectives of each of the organisations.  Below are just some of the support modules we can offer.

Teaching Orienteering

Sometimes teaching orienteering can be a little daunting. This session is designed to relieve your fears and give you some great ideas on how you can teach orienteering at your school

Teambuilding Induction days

Teambuilding is great way for new students to get to know each other. We offer both half-day and full-day teambuilding events at your venue. We come to you with all the equipment needed to run a fun packed and educational day. Not only that, each of activities has been designed so that trainee teachers can get ideas on how they could run teambuilding with their students.

Teaching Earth Walks and Bushcraft

With few children having access to the outdoors, the time we have to explore our natural environment is precious. This session will provide you with a range of games and activities that you can do either on your school grounds or a local park.

For the past few years KMT (Kent & Medway Training) has taken a cohort of trainee teachers to the Bowles Activity Centre. In their evaluations, many have identified the visit as the highlight of the year.

“The accommodation, food and facilities are excellent and having one expert instructor assigned to the programme for the week is a real plus.  In addition to the elements of H&S, the trainees were given many exemplars of fun, creative and challenging activities that developed pupils’ emotions, skills, teamwork and empathy. Many of these could also be taken back to school to be used in lessons.”
